I found a good looking spot, and had my tent up by 5.30. Ian's tent (on the left in the picture) is a Hilldeberg Akto; mine (on the right) is a Terra Nova Laser Photon. This was a good opportunity to compare the two. My conclusion was that the Akto looked as though it ought to be more stable in a high wind; but I was unsure whether this was sufficient advantage to offset the additional weight. It is, as ever, a case of you pays your money and you takes your choice.
Soon after this picture was taken, it came on to rain. The rain continued until 6.30, when we had a little sun. I took advantage of the opportunity to cook myself some supper, and then I turned in for the night - taking care to lay out my survival bag between the ground sheet and my Thermarest, on account of the known hole in my groundsheet (which I had not yet managed to locate).
