The 2013 Challenge, day 6: Tulloch to Loch Pattack (10)

I found a good looking spot, and had my tent up by 5.30. Ian's tent (on the left in the picture) is a Hilldeberg Akto; mine (on the right) is a Terra Nova Laser Photon. This was a good opportunity to compare the two. My conclusion was that the Akto looked as though it ought to be more stable in a high wind; but I was unsure whether this was sufficient advantage to offset the additional weight. It is, as ever, a case of you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Soon after this picture was taken, it came on to rain. The rain continued until 6.30, when we had a little sun. I took advantage of the opportunity to cook myself some supper, and then I turned in for the night - taking care to lay out my survival bag between the ground sheet and my Thermarest, on account of the known hole in my groundsheet (which I had not yet managed to locate).

  1. This is all looking very good - it's helping me get psyched-up to finish my route.

    Next day please!

  2. Ha ha ... some of us had our route for 2014 worked out ages ago ... only to find ourselves on the Standby List!
